About ScaLabs Cloud

Two homes. One company. One platform.

ScaLabs Cloud is operated jointly from Kathmandu and Bavaria. Both teams build, run, and support the same platform — the Nepali side handles hardware, hosting, and regional operations; the Bavarian side handles EU contracts, engineering, and a second working day of coverage.

Two entities

One company, two legal homes — for clean contracting on both sides.

We deliberately set up parallel entities in Nepal and Germany so customers can pick the contracting relationship that fits them. The hardware, the team, and the platform are unified; only the invoice and the venue differ.

ScaLabs Cloud Pvt. Ltd. NP

ScaLabs Cloud Pvt. Ltd. is our Nepali home. It owns the hardware, runs the data center, employs the Nepali team, and invoices regional customers in NPR.

  • Registered in Kathmandu, Nepal
  • Pvt. Ltd. under Nepali company law
  • Operates the Fujitsu hardware, networking, and physical site
  • Invoices in NPR for Nepali and South Asian customers
Scalabs UG DE

Scalabs UG (haftungsbeschränkt) is our Bavarian home. It contracts with European and international customers, runs the EU-side engineering, and invoices in EUR or USD.

  • Registered in Bavaria, Germany
  • UG (haftungsbeschränkt) under German GmbH law
  • EU contracts under German law, with German consumer-protection regime
  • Invoices in EUR or USD; SCC-compliant DPA available on request

Why Kathmandu

The hardware lives here for good reasons.

Picking a hosting location is a long-term decision. Kathmandu earned this role on technical, economic, and operational merit.

01

Hardware and hosting

Our servers, network, and operations team are based in Kathmandu. Every workload — inference, agents, sandboxes, VPS — runs here on hardware we own outright.

02

Hydropower-clean compute

Nepal's grid is powered predominantly by hydro. Compute hosted with us has a fundamentally lower carbon footprint than equivalent workloads in most US, EU, or Asian regions.

03

Regional latency advantage

For customers across South Asia — India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, regional SaaS players — Kathmandu sits inside the latency budget. Workloads stay close to home.

04

Nepali billing in NPR

Regional customers can contract and pay directly in NPR via ScaLabs Cloud Pvt. Ltd., without going through cross-border conversion.

Why also Bavaria

A second home with a complementary skill set.

Bavaria is where we anchor the European side of the company. Engineering depth, EU legal posture, and a second time zone — together they let us offer something a single-location provider can't.

01

EU contracts and GDPR posture

Scalabs UG (haftungsbeschränkt), our Bavarian sister entity, contracts with European customers under German law. Standard Contractual Clauses, German DPA on request, German consumer-protection regime by default.

02

Deep engineering culture

Bavaria has been a software and systems engineering hub for decades. Our Bavarian team builds and operates the platform alongside our Kathmandu colleagues — same codebase, shared on-call.

03

EUR and USD invoicing

Scalabs UG can invoice in either EUR or USD, useful for European customers and for international teams whose finance systems prefer one over the other.

04

A second working day

The eight-hour offset between Kathmandu and Bavaria gives us a near-continuous workday for operations and customer support. Two teams, two time zones, one platform.

How the two homes work together.

ScaLabs Cloud Pvt. Ltd. and Scalabs UG (haftungsbeschränkt) are operationally one team. Engineers in Kathmandu and Bavaria share the same repository, the same on-call rotation, and the same product roadmap. The difference is on the customer-facing side: depending on where you are and how your finance team works, you contract with whichever entity fits — and the hardware, the team, and the platform are exactly the same either way.

For European customers, that means a German contracting counterparty under GDPR, SCC, and German consumer-protection law. For Nepali and regional customers, that means local-currency invoicing through a Nepali entity. For everyone else, USD invoicing through Scalabs UG is the simplest path.

What we believe

A short list, written down on purpose.

We're a small team with strong opinions about how cloud infrastructure should be sold and operated. These four show up in every product decision.

01

Honest pricing

Published rates, no surprise overage bills, no opaque enterprise tiers. If the math changes, customers benefit before we do.

02

Customer data stays customer data

No training on prompts, outputs, files, or tool calls. No sharing with model authors. Logged metadata only, and only what we need to run the platform.

03

Open models, audited weights

Every model in our inference catalog is open-weight and traceable. No proprietary frontier models in the catalog at founding launch.

04

Public goods where they fit

HimalayaGPT is hosted free because Nepal's sovereign LLM belongs to the community that built it. We expect to find more cases like this.
